Peer Review

Image
The first person I reviewed our Flim was Leila Jean Charles. We may remember this name as she was in our music video playing the friend of Chatae Taylor. She loved it and said my acting was really good.  Then I asked my Godsisters to watch it and tell me what they thought the movie would be about by watching the film to make sure it's clear what our pitch is. They weren't sure but said they thought it was a dead sister coming back to haunt them. That is about right, which means Kaydiane and I are on the right track as of now. I then asked for some crique and they told me its good but the part where Keron said didn't your sister die around that time was too quiet. I will talk to Kaydiane and well will add that in the reshoot.  Then I asked my classmate Sophia and she said Chatae standing outside scared her. That made me happy to hear because that's exactly why I wanted her standing in the background in the beginning and someone actually noticed. She really likes the edi

Reshoot Planning

Image
Reshoot The second day we were editing we began to look over all the camera angles we originally planned to include. We were missing three: a shot reverse shot, an establishing shot, and a low angle. For the shot reserve shot, we planned to have Keron and Christel arguing to get Keron's pov of the agreement. For the establishing shot, we wanted to show the friends pulling into the drive and showing around the house as they ate pulling in. For the Low angle, we wanted to record Cgristel's reaction as she opened the box and took out the note. Then we discussed a date to reshoot. We added all our actors to a group chat and told them we had to reshoot and why. We also told them to wear the same exact clothes. We told them the date and time we needed them and Kaydiane's house. Lastly, we asked if they could all make it. Thankfully they could.  Now we have some things to worry about. Where are we going to find the same exact wrapping paper? Will we use different wrapping paper an

Editing Part 2& Adding Music

Image
Today we first started looking at different effects, Then as we were looking for places we were going to incorporate non-diegetic sounds. Then we went on an AI sound-generating website to find typing noises, but none sounded good. So then we began looking for sound effects within the Flimora app.  Kaydiane then recorded herself typing and we uploaded the sound to the beginning of the film which was perfect. We went on YouTube and searched for no copyrighted music. After a long search for instrumentals, we finally found one. Our film was really coming together. The problem came when we needed the movie to fade out for Keron's comment and the crickets. It just didn't flow. We then went on YouTube again to extract cricket sound effects that we liked better. We also split the sounds so certain background sounds fight in their respective scenes for what was going on in the scenes. Happier sounds for happier scenes, scary noises, and suspenseful sounds for the parts suspenseful/scary

Editing Part 1

Image
Today, we used Flim the Flimmore app. This is the same app we used for our music video. I really like this app because it's easy to use. There are also so many great effects, the sounds, the transitions, and how easy it is to cut and add scenes. There was also music which we discovered today which means we don't have to worry about getting copywrited. The main downside to the app is that we have to pay for it which is a boomer. But quality work doesn't come cheap.  First, we put all the videos in chronological order. However, we ended up having to add them one at a time so we could add the takes we thought were the best. While recording we knew some of our actors were doing a lot of unnecessary talking in the shots but editing made us realize just how much extra talking they were doing. Then we put the scenes we liked the best in chronological order. We began discussing some issues and making adjustments. First, we made adjustments to the time cut cutting some scenes that w

Filming Second Half

The rest of scenes 3 and 4 went pretty smoothly. There were very few interruptions. I think the hardest part was figuring out what camera angle Kaydiane was going to record from so we could use a variety of them. Scene 5 had way too much dialogue. Kaydiane and I were very repetitive and ended up cutting it down to only 2 or 3 people saying their lines. It just didn't flow with all the extra dialogue and lines we had in the script. Also being that our film can't surpass more than two minutes it was making this one clip a lot longer than we needed it it be. In scene two Keron mentions how Christel's sister died last year. Apparently, this was so funny to everyone. If it wasn't Keron, it was Avione, Lynn, or someone laughing at his statement. Of course, this slowed us down a bit more. Before the next part of the scene, I warned everyone that we HAD to get this right. There were only 3 boxes that were wrapped because we needed more wrapping paper. Therefore, we could not b

First Half of Filming

Image
"Hurry up and eat!" "We need to start filming!" I said as it was nearing 8:30. We were 2 hours behind schedule. I told everyone to look at their lines once more than we started. In our first scene, most of us were outside while Christel was inside. Kaydiane and I instructed everyone to simply come inside to say 'Happy birthday" and maybe give Christel a hug. We also insisted on not taking too long because our film can not be longer than 2 minutes and we need time to fit the rest of the scenes in the video. This one scene took 5 or 6 different takes. One of the takes (I believe the 4th take) was perfect, however, Keron cursed being that this is supposed to be a school-appropriate film we had to reshoot. In this scene, I also told Chatae (who's playing the missing sister) to stand in the back so we hopefully catch her in the background with the camera so it's like a"  what's that?" moment to the audience.  For the second scene, we gave e

Before Filming

Image
The day finally came, film day! At 2 pm on February 17, I went to Walmart to buy wrapping paper to wrap some boxes to look like gifts. Unfortunately, I left the wrapping tapping in the car after my dad dropped me off. Then I went home packed and ate. At 4 I left my house with my dad to pick up Chatae( one of our actors). After picking her up, we took a 35-40-minute drive to Kaydiane's house (where we were filming). Once there we went to pick up Avoine( another actor). Keron( another actor) went to shower since he was already at Kaydiane's house. Problem one: arose when we reached Aoine's house and had to wait for his mom to come because he couldn't leave his sister by herself This delayed us about 15 to 20 minutes. Then after that, we had to pick up some food so nobody complained of hunger as we were filming it was around 7:15. We got back to the house about 15-30 minutes later waiting on the food and driving back to the house. Then the second problem arose when Christ

Planning Before 2/17

Image
We first began making a rough draft of our storyboard. We had the actors from our last project and others who wanted to be part of our next projects (this is now). After making a draft and sending it out to some of our actors, many bailed. First Zamarion said, "I don't want to be in it." Then Dazira said, "Absolutely not." When I told you, I was too stunned to speak after what she said. Not only that, two days later, my partner Kaydiane texted me, saying, "We're going to need a backup for Keron." As if this project wasn't hard enough already, our actors were not cooperating. Now we need to find someone to replace Keron, being that he was an important character. I am not sure if Leila will be able to attend, being that she is going on a birthday cruise, and I think the day we planned to film might be a day she's on her cruise.    Kaydiane and I changed the date we film from February 24th to February 17th in order to make more time to make
